About Us

Toronto Adventure Boot Camp History & Philosophy

Toronto Adventure Boot Camp was founded in 2005 by Allison Amery and Athina Theodore.  The program began with just 5 participants and has grown to over 200 in each four week session.  Over the years our programs have expanded in include:

  • Teen Adventure Boot Camp
  • High School Day programs
  • New Mommy Boot Camp
  • Circus Fit Boot Camp
  • Junior programs
  • Corporate programs

Our core boot camp program is designed to provide an alternative for people who strive to be active but are looking for something besides working out at a typical gym.  The program fundamentals are consistent whether we are working with youth, adults or children.  The package may change, the approach and format may differ, but the goal to ensure each participant is challenged and reaches their goals, remains constant.

We combine a variety of programming types and continue to make workouts challenging for each individual.  All exercises that we do can be altered to make it harder, easier or to adapt to a specific injury.  We are continually re-inventing our workouts so they are constantly different and always a challenge.  A lot of research goes into our daily programming to ensure we have the right exercises for the right group of people.

Safety is another hallmark of our program.  We are extremely passionate about ensuring that everyone does exercises in a safe & effective manner.  Instructors are highly skilled at providing individual attention in a group setting to prevent injury.

 

Our Team

Allison Amery, Co-Owner

Allison has been active in sport and fitness throughout her life.  Allison met Athina in 2002 while training flying trapeze.  Circus arts quickly became a passion as did finding new ways to train the body for peak performance.  In 2005 it was time to take this training and performance partnership to the next level.  Toronto Adventure Boot Camp was born.

Education is a really important piece for Allison.  She continues to take courses and holds a variety of industry certifications to ensure that we bring the best knowledge to our clients.

Allison is Toronto Adventure Boot Camp’s lead programmer.  She spends extensive time researching and building quality programs based on the latest technology and trends in the industry.

 

 




Athina Theodore, Co-Owner

Athina has been a high performance athlete since childhood.  At the age of 11 she was an Ontario Provincial Champion in Artistic Gymnastics.  She went on to compete at the Senior National level for many years, representing Canada around the world.

Throughout Athina’s life, she has learned that flexibility, core strength, agility and endurance are key factors in being competitive.  She has spent many years coaching young gymnasts and understands the focus it takes to be a competitive athlete.

Athina is highly spirited and has an incredible ability to motivate and inspire people to help achieve their goals.

 


 


Liijanna Shklar-Kushnirenko, Team Leader & Senior Trainer

From her education in Kinesiology to her career in the pharmaceutical industry, Liijanna has had a long standing passion for healthy living and health care.

Liijanna's energetic, motivational, supportive and optimistic view on life helps drive our campers to meet their goals with a smile and helps them find the confidence to succeed.

A life time athlete in various sports, Liijanna added personal training and fitness instruction to her achievements by becoming Can-Fit Pro and Fitness Ontario Leadership certified during her university schooling. She's an active community volunteer as well as a youth counsellor.

A belief in health, fitness, wellness and happiness is how Liijanna lives her life. With this belief, Liijanna tries to instill the same outlook in each class with our campers.
